Mentioning that Bangladesh is out of Ebola risk, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has said the government is prepared to face the outbreak.
The minister made the statement while talking to journalists after a programme at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
"The government is maintaining the highest alert over Ebola threat," he said.
He said: "The process of purchasing two thermal imaging scanners through Central Medicine Stores Depot has already begun."
The minister also urged for civil aviation and Biman Bangladesh Airlines' coordinated efforts to scan the passengers arriving from abroad at the international airport.
The death rate in the Ebola outbreak has risen to 70% and there could be up to 10,000 new cases a week in two months, the World Health Organisation (WHO) warned.
The WHO increased its Ebola death toll tally to 4,447 people on Tuesday, nearly all of them in West Africa, from 8,914 cases.
