Photo Editor of the Daily Observer Azizur Rahim Peu died of cardiac arrest at his Dhanmondi residence in the capital at 3am yesterday. He was 50.
Peu is the father of Dhaka Tribune’s Staff Writer Raisa Rahim.
Family sources said he had felt a pain in his chest at 3am and was immediately taken to Square Hospital where the attending doctor pronounced him dead.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at the National Press Club after Johr prayers.
In his long photojournalist career, Peu worked with different dailies, including the daily Ittefaq and Shokaler Khobor. He was associated with Pathshala, a photography training institute, and was a member of Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS). He was also the editor and publisher of “Baher Shongbad,” a daily published from Rangpur.
Peu will be buried at his family graveyard at Guptapara in Rangpur city.
Prime minister’s information Adviser and Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Abul Kalam Azad, President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and CEO of Boishakhi Televesion Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul attended the janaza, among others.
The Dhaka Tribune family conveys condolence to the bereaved family of the demised.
