3 JL members among 4 killed in road crash

At least four people, including three Jubo League members have been killed when a speedy-driven bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw down on Sonaimuri–Chatkhil road near Junudpur area under Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali.

The deceased are acting president of Nanda union unit Jubo League Sumon, 36, Vice-President Emran, 40, JL member Mizanur Rahman, 38, and the auto-rickshaw driver, Badsa Mia, 35.

Injured JL activists Rajib and Sajjad were admitted at Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex.

Ashraful Alam, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri police station, quoting the locals, said: “A Chatkhil-bound passenger bus from Chittagong rammed the CNG-run auto-rickshaw down at 9pm, leaving Mizan, Sumon and Emran dead on the spot and three others injured.”

“Badsa Mia died on his way to the hospital.”

Following the accident, agitated locals blocked the Sonaimuri–Chatkhil road and vandalised the killer bus.

Later, the police managed to control the situation and removed the barricade from the road after about 30 minutes of the incident. 

The police also seized the bus. However, the driver managed to flee, said the police.

A case was filed in this connection.
