Poet Nirmalendu Goon has undergone a successful open-heart surgery in the capital’s Labaid Hospital.
“The surgery was held successfully at around 3:45pm,” Dr Baren Chakrabarti told the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The poet has been taken to post-operative after the three-hour open-heart surgery.”
As his physical condition deteriorated, the poet was shifted to Labaid Hospital under the supervision of Dr Baren Chakrabarti.
Cardiac specialist Dr Lutfor Rahman has conducted the surgery.
