DHL, entity of Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL), the world’s leading mail and logistics service group, held Global Volunteer Day in Bangladesh yesterday.
Employees from DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh jointly carried out a refurbishment project at Amtoli Staff Welfare Government Primary School under Gulshan thana in the capital.
Around 50 DHL volunteers helped paint six class rooms. In order to facilitate the class room experience DHL set up four whiteboards.
The senior management team of DHL participated in a “role model” session to share experience and success stories to inspire student. A tree plantation programme was also held.
This year’s Volunteer Day event is in line with company’s “GoTeach” and “GoHelp” initiatives, which is DPDHL’s commitment to improve the education facility in the society.
Desmond Quiah, country manager of DHL Express Bangladesh, said: “We encourage our employees to contribute positively to the society they live in. Global Volunteer Day is a part of our motto ‘Living Responsibility’ which is an integral part of a sustainable business and a clear priority for the DPDHL group.”
This year, DHL is partnering with Teach for Bangladesh (TFB), a member of Teach for All, which is a global network of independent social enterprises working to expand educational opportunity in different countries by engaging talented future leaders to the effort.
