Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury has said farmers of fourteen districts will receive subsidies to compensate their loss because of excessive rainfall and flood.
The minister made the disclosure in a press conference held at the ministry's conference room in the secretariat around 12pm on Sunday.
She said: “The government has taken a subsidy package worth Tk84, 849,218 for the farmers of 14 selected districts that has already been started.”
About 86,475 farmers will get seeds and necessary fertilizers from the government, she added.
The selected districts are Tangail, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari,Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat,Kurigram, Sirajganj and Bogra.
The government is expecting 34,870 metric tonnes of winter crops to be produced in the winter season.
