At least eight people were killed in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
Our Jessore correspondent reports: At least four people were killed as a goods-laden truck hit an engine-run three-wheeler on the Jessore-Khulna highway in Abhaynagar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Rony,35, son of Harun of Badiaghat area of the upazila, Bodiar Rahman,37, of Gazipur area of the upazila, Rokeya Begum,30, hailed from Fultola of Khulna district and Mithu Biswas,40, wife of Minto Biswas of Narail district.
Police said the Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck from Khulna collided with the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction in front of Peerbari in Noapara Bazar around 3:35 pm, leaving the four people dead on the spot and four others injured.
The injured were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
In Rajshahi, A couple was killed as a bus crashed into a motorcycle carrying them at Belpukur in Puthia upazila.
One of the deceased was identified as Shaheen, 26, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Binodpur area in Rajshahi city.
Officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station Shafiul Alam said the Dhaka-bound bus from Rajshahi hit the motorbike carrying Shaheen and his wife on their way to Binodpur from Puthia around 3:45pm, leaving both of them dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Our Shariatpur correspondent reports, two people were killed in a road accident in Rupbaburhat under Zanzira upazila of the district.
