Mawa-Kawrakandi launch service suspended

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended the launch service between Mawa and Kawrakandi points from Saturday noon due to rough weather and strong swelling of the Padma.

The decision on suspesion of launch movement came as the Padma turned extremely violent though the weather office issued cautionary signal number-2, said BIWTA official Mohiuddin Ahmed, reports BSS.

The launch service will resume when the river becomes calm, he added.

Meanwhile, a youth named Faisal, 20, met his tragic end when he fell into the river at Banglabazar point on Friday afternoon.
