25km long tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Update : 11 Oct 2014, 06:42 AM

A 25-kilometre tailback has been created on the Dhaka-Tangail highway as holidaymakers are returning to the capital after the Eid vacations.

It was seen that a long traffic jam of about 25 kilometres had developed from Elenga to Natiyaparha, said Kamruzzaman Raz, Highway police's Elenga outpost in-charge.

“The vehicles are moving very slowly due to the extra rush of vehicles on the highway. It will take some more hours to get back to normalcy.”

Thousands of holidaymakers from the northern region of the country are returning to Dhaka through the highway after enjoying a week-long vacation of Durga puja and Eid-ul-Azha.
