Promising singer-musician-songwriter Obaidur Rahman has made a strong entry onto the music scene with his self-produced debut double album titled “Prahelika-1” and “Prahelika-2,” both containing 15 of his original songs. All the songs are written, composed, performed and arranged by the singer himself.
The multi-talented Obaid is responsible for the artwork of the albums as well. All the illustrations of the albums including both album covers were painted by him.
About producing the album by himself, Obaid said: “I approached a few production houses, but I did not find them supportive towards new musicians like me. So I decided to do it by myself.”
The album is dominated by acoustic guitar based works. The songs’ themes explore the singer’s inner-spiritual quests and experiences in the great expanse of the majestic universe.
The lyrics and melody reveal the musician’s search for optimism and serenity in this modern chaotic world.
Obaid is influenced by 80’s hard rock music as well as the mainstream pop music of that wonderful era. “Besides that, music from the early 90’s including grunge and alternative and rock music from the late 60’s and 70’s have educated me on the elements that precisely influence the making of some good, decent music,” Obaid said.
