An assistant sub-inspector of Lakshmipur police has been killed by a bullet from his own gun in front of Lakshmipur Police Lines early Friday.
The deceased is Abdul Jalil, 50.
Superintendent of Lakshmipur Police Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman said Jalil received a bullet as the trigger of his gun got pressed mistakenly while he was having tea at a tea stall around 12:30am on Friday.
He was rushed to Lakshmipur sadar hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.
The body was kept at Lakshmipur sadar hospital morgue.
