At least three people including two housewives have been killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha and Comilla districts.
In Gaibandha, two persons crushed by a human hauler at Holdia village of Dhopadanga union under Sundarganj upazila.
The deceased are Rozena Begum, 30, wife of Habil Uddin, and Nazma Begum, 22, wife of Farid Uddin of the village.
Injured Rozena, 28, wife of Zahur Uddin, was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Mozammel Hoque, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj police station, said: "The three victims were gossiping near the road in Holodia village around 7am when a human hauler ran over them, leaving Rozena and Nazma dead on the spot.”
Meanwhile, the angry locals torched the human hauler. However, the driver managed to flee the scene.
In Comilla, one person was and five others were injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and CNG auto-rickshaw on Comilla-Chandpur highway of Bijaypur area under South sadar upazila.
The deceased is Juwel, 32, resident of Adinamura of the upazila.
Khorshed Alom, sub-inspector of Lalmai highway police station said: "A Dhaka-bound microbus collided with a CNG auto-rickshaw around 6am in Bijoypur area that left the auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and five other passengers injured.”
Police recovered the body and seized the transport from the spot.
The injured were taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital and other local hospitals, he added.
