Miscreants have hacked a youth to death following a clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy at Charlaksmipur village of Kalikapur union under sadar upazila of the district.
The deceased is Shahadat, 22, son of Hafez Kha of the village.
Quoting locals, Assistant Superintendent Abu Bakar Siddique of Madaripur Police said: “There is a long standing rivalry between Barek Sarder group and Golap Kha group of the village. Following the rivalry the two groups locked into a clash that left ten people injured on Wednesday night.”
“It is assumed that rival group got Shahadat alone, hacked him to death and left the spot immediately,” he added.
The official said police had recovered the body and sent it to Madaripur sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
“Additional police have been deployed in the area,” he added.
