Ronaldo's hat-trick crashes Athletic Bilbao

Update : 06 Oct 2014, 05:39 AM

It was an easy stroll to victory on Sunday for Real Madrid who routed Athletic Bilbao 5-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third hat-trick in four matches and Karim Benzema added a brace to give Los Blancos another three points in a match in which they were hardly ever troubled.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti went with his strongest starting XI as Iker Casillas manned the Real net and was shielded by a back four of Dani Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo.

In midfield it was the trio of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and James while the 'BBC' manned the attack in the form of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The hat-trick was Ronaldo's 22nd career hat-trick in La Liga, equaling the mark set by Alfredo Di Stéfano and Telmo Zarra.

Following this week's international break, Real will return to action on Saturday October 18th versus Levante.
