Two workers have sustained burn injuries after a spinning mill caught fire at Madhkhola area in Sreepur of Gazipur.
The injured are Shahjahan Miah, 30, son of Kuddus Miah, of Mymensingh and Al-Amin, 19, son of Nizam Uddin of Netrokona.
Another worker Bipul, 23, got injured as he jumped from the third floor of the factory building. They work in the utility department.
Of them, Shahjahan has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Milon Hossain Gazi, engineer of the utility department, said: “The fire originated due to the gas cylinder leakage in the generator room of Ishrak Spinning Mill around 6am.”
“Four generators and other valuables of the factory worth Tk4 crore gutted in the fire,” he said.
Sreepur Fire Service Station Officer Tasharaf Hossain said: “On information, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after 1 hour of frantic effort.”
