Workers of Tuba Group have besieged the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) Bhaban in the city demanding their salary and bonus on Saturday afternoon.
The agitated workers started the besiege programme under Garment Sramik Somonnoy Parishad around 1pm and continued till 4:30pm.
Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee Convenor Moshrefa Mishu declared that they would hold their next programme in front of National Press Club on October 15.
Agitated workers said they first besieged BGMEA vice-president Shahidullah Azim’s residence.
Police restricted their movement at Azim's residence saying that it is a personal property and suggested them to hold their programme in front of BGMEA Bhaban.
At this, the leaders lead the workers to BGMEA Bhaban.
Additional police have been deployed in front of BGMEA Bhaban, reports this correspondent.
However, workers said they would not return without their salary.
