Matia: Latif's expulsion after hajj

Update : 02 Oct 2014, 03:06 PM

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said although Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique has already been removed from the cabinet, the formalities would be completed once the President returns home after performing hajj.

She said: “Latif is no longer a cabinet member after the Prime Minister’s decision to remove him. But, the formalities are left for his removal and it will be completed once the President returns home after performing hajj in Saudi Arabia.”

She made the remarks while distributing rice from the Viability Gap Fund (VGF) among poor and destitute people at Morichpuran union parishad in Nalitabari upazila ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, reported BSS.

The Agriculture Minister further said neither the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nor Awami League would take any responsibility for the disparaging remarks against hajj and Tablig Jamaat by Latif Siddique.

“He himself has to pay the price for what he has done. People, who make such derogatory remarks on religion, are having wicked brain. Whoever makes such comments, Sheikh Hasina will never tolerate it."
