A Feni court has granted bail to two accused in Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram murder case.
The court of District Session Judge Dewan Ashraf Ali passed the order, accepting their bail petitions on Thursday afternoon.
The accused are Hellal Uddin and Mir Hossain Shawpon.
Feni model police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), also the investigation officer of the case, Abul Kalam Azad, said: “They have been granted bail on the basis of a police report. The police could not find their involvement with the killing.”
Ekram, who was also the president of Fulgazi upazila Awami League, was shot and burned alive in his car in broad daylight in Feni town on May 20.
Following the incident, the police have arrested 24 people including Jihad Chowdhury, an alleged mastermind and joint secretary of Fulgazi upazila AL unit, and BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, the alleged financier.
