Five students of Chittagong University have been temporarily suspended for attacking two teachers’ buses that left at least 10 teachers injured.
The decision came from the 495th university syndicate members’ meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Anwarul Azim Arif at the university on Wednesday afternoon.
Professor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, CU pro-vice-chancellor, said: “The authority has temporarily suspended them as per media news, police investigation and their confessional statement.”
On September 10, at least 14 people, including 10 teachers, were injured in a crude bombs attack on two Chittagong University buses.
The incident took place in Chharpool area of Patayabad under Hathazari upazila in Chittagong.
Following the incidents, police had already nabbed 17 people and recovered five crude bombs, two sacks of sharps weapons, arms and bomb making materials in separate drives in this connection, said Additional Superintendent of Police Shahidullah.
Meanwhile, police have filed another case over arms recovery against some 75 persons with Hathazari police station, said OC Md Ismail Hossain.
