‘Cheated Bangladeshi pilgrims can perform hajj’

The pilgrims who got visas but failed to reach Mecca after being cheated by different agencies can perform hajj, Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman has said.

He made the disclosure after a meeting in Mecca Hajj Office in Saudi Arabia at 10am on Tuesday with the hajj administration, medical, IT and other team members.

He said: “A total of 381 pilgrims failed to reach Saudi Arabia as they were cheated by several travel agencies and brokers despite getting visas in time.”

“We have taken initiatives to bring the cheated pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a total of 74 hajjis' out of 381, have reached in Mecca with the initiatives of the government and the rest of them will come here within two days,” the minister said.

In the meeting, he gave required instructions to ensure the smooth hajj management.

Following the meeting, he held a press conference where he answered to the journalists’ queries.
