'Latif Siddique removed from cabinet'

The government has decided to remove Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique from the cabinet amid controversy following his comments on hajj, according to reports from several private TV channels.

On Sunday, Siddique made comments on hajj while addressing a reception arranged by the Tangail expatriates in New York.

The minister’s derogative comments on hajj have sparked controversy in home and abroad.

Meanwhile, Jatiya Party faction Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu has demanded cancellation of MP Abdul Latif Siddique's membership from the parliament and party.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat has also demanded the arrest of Latif Siddique for his remarks on hajj.

However, our Special Correspondent Mohosinul Karim said from the secretariat no decision was taken yet to remove Siddique from the cabinet.

Earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, Jatiya Party faction Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed, Bablu while addressing a rally in the capital, has demanded cancellation of MP Abdul Latif Siddique's membership from the parliament and party for his comments regarding Hajj.

Also Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat demanded the arrest of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddique for his remarks against hajj.
