A knitting factory has caught fire at the Export Processing Zone in Chittagong on Tuesday morning.
Md Jashim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said: “The fire originated around 7am at Precious Apparels Limited located on fourth floor of the six-storey building.”
Three fire fighting units from EPZ, Port and Agrabad stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 8:30am.
The work of dumping was underway, according to the official.
The cause of the fire and the amount of damage could not be ascertained immediately.
No casualties were reported till filing of this report around 8:33am, said Md Jashim Uddin.
