TOI apologises for 'The Hot Babes with Ugly Legs'

Update : 29 Sep 2014, 10:13 AM

The authorities of Times of India (TOI) regretted their publication of a report which listed some female celebrities with “ugly legs.”

The newspaper published a disclaimer on its online version apologising for the report on Saturday.

The disclaimer stated: “We apologise for publishing an article headlined 'The Hot Babes with Ugly Legs' which recently appeared in the columns of the Calcutta Times.”

“We removed it from our website as soon as it was brought to our notice, because it runs contrary to our values.” it added.

The newspaper was widely criticised for targeting Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari in its report titled “Hot babes with ugly legs.”

The article had listed actresses, who have legs that should never be exposed, don’t belong to movie stars or can only be described using weird metaphors.

The TOI had also created controversies with its report titled “OMG: Deepika Padukone’s cleavage show,” on September 14.

However, the newspaper did not give an apology regarding Deepika's report claiming that they wanted everyone to know about how “great” she looks.
