Obaidul: Government worried about militants

Update : 29 Sep 2014, 08:35 AM

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government is worried about international militant groups and their planning of jihad, not about BNP’s call for movement.

The minister made the statement while inaugurating a foot-over-bridge at Naisinghapur area in Ashuliya on Monday afternoon.

Obaidul Quader said: “People do not believe that they [BNP] can form such a movement to oust the government. That is why the government did not take their call seriously.”

“But some international extremist militant groups are trying to create their workforce in Bangladesh along with the South Asian countries. The government is concerned about these matters,” he added.

The minister also claimed that the government is working to prevent the militants’ activities.
