Ananda Shipyard and Slipways Ltd, the country’s first shipbuilder industry, will build a number of ocean-going ships for a German company that will operate on different shipping routes in European region.
The German shipping company Nordic Hamburg has shown interest to purchase a number of already-constructed and also under-construction ships of Ananda Shipyard, said the company in a statement yesterday.
“The formalities in this regards is under way.”
Last week, a delegation of the German company led by its Managing Director Rowil Ponta visited the shipyard at Meghnaghat in Narayanganj.
Ananda Shipyard chairman Abdullahel Bari and its executive director Tariqul Islam accompanied the delegation.
The statement said the German company is going to purchase these ships for operating on different shipping routes in European region.
Established in 1983 on the bank of river Buriganga as Ananda Builders Ltd, it is the first Bangladeshi shipbuilder to deliver a seagoing vessel to a foreign customer. It is a part of the Ananda Group of companies.
