United Airways resumes operations

Update : 27 Sep 2014, 06:50 AM

Local private airline company United Airways has resumed its operations on Saturday, after three days of suspension.

The decision of flight resumption came at a closed-door meeting between newly constituted Board of Directors and the immediate past chairman at the latter’s residence on Friday evening, UNB reported.

On Wednesday, the airline announced that it would indefinitely suspend its operation for financial reasons.

Quamrul Islam, deputy general manager (PR) of the airline, said the flight operations on international routes will resume upon receiving clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and fulfilling global distribution system requirements.

He said: "The new board requested Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury, who resigned as the chairman, to retake the charges and he agreed to the request."

After the resignation of Tasbirul, the board on Monday appointed Mohammad Mahatabur Rahman chairman and Shahinoor Alam acting managing director.

Tasbirul served the company as chairman and managing director since its inception in 2007.
