The National Sports Council (NSC) is all set to revive the National Sports Council Award from the 2014-15 fiscal year to inspire the local sports organisers again.
The fact was revealed by NSC secretary Shibnath Roy in the press conference of the Marcel Refrigerator School College Bashap at the Bangabandhu National Stadium conference room yesterday. “The NSC Award was last distributed back in 1988 and it has been decided that from the fiscal year of 2014-15 it will be revived. The award includes a gold medal, a purse of Tk15,000 and a certificate. It would be awarded in 10 categories,” said the NSC secretary.
Responding to the declaration, FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn, the additional director of Walton urged the government that the companies who support and sponsor the sport arena should be included in the criteria. “It will inspire the companies to promote sports and I think more companies will step up to help sports if it is included in the criteria,” said Dawn.
Meanwhile Khaled Monsur Chowdhury, the general secretary of the Bashap Federation informed that a total of 105 participants from 22 schools and colleges will take part in the three-day event that will be held at the NSC gymnasium.
