The government has ordered the garment owners to provide holidays to workers in phases ahead of upcoming Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha.
State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan made the order in a meeting with the RMG owners at the ministry on Thursday afternoon.
The minister briefed the reporters after the meeting at the secretariat.
He asked the garment owners to declare Eid holidays in between September 29 to October 2.
Asaduzzaman said: "The decision was taken in a bid to lessen traffic congestion during the Eid holidays."
BGMEA president Atiqul Islam has agreed to the decision.
The minister also ordered the RMG owners to pay the wages to the workers before Eid.
