Jamalpur town is now at risk as river erosion has taken a serious turn, staking the main flood control embankment built along the town area in the district.
The 240-meter flood control embankment on the river is now at a vulnerable condition due to a rapid rise of water levels in Brahmaputra River.
And for this, the residents of the area, Jamalpur Zila School, Municipal building is under the threat of erosion.
The district administration authorities are trying to control the onslaught of the erosion by keeping sandbags as part of the emergency procedures.
After visiting the spot, Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner Md Shahabuddin said: “I have informed the water resource ministry to take immediate steps to control the onslaught of the erosion.”
