5 Allaher Dal militants held in Khulna

The police have detained five activists of Islamist militant outfit Allaher Dal from Kajpur area under Fultala upazila in Khulna on Tuesday night.

The detainees are Parvej Hossain, 28, son of Abu Bakar Mollah, of Damodar area, Rahim, 28, son of late Karim, of Alka area, Selim, 24, son of Abdus Samad, of the upazila, Ali Hossain, 25, son of Hatem Munsi, of Avaynagar upazila in Jessore and Bishwajit Debnath alias Mahin Ahmed , 25, son of Anil Debnath, of Magura village of Satkhira.

The police also seized 4 bombs, resolution of “Allaher Dal” [a new militant party], draft for forming a new government and whiteboards from their possession.

Fultala police station duty officer Sub-Inspector Md Iliyasur Rahman said: “Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the area and detained them from one Ahmed Ali’s building on Tuesday night.”

“They were planning to start their activity by forming a new wing of the militant group led by one Matin Mehedi.”

Later, SI Yeasin Alam filed a case under Explosive Act 1908 and Special Power Act 1974 in this connection.

The detainees have been sent to court with remand plea on Wednesday, added SI Iliyasur Rahman.
