The Indian government is giving utmost importance to the meeting between two South Asian leaders Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two leaders, for the first time, are set to hold meeting on September 27 in New York, USA, reports BSS.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Session, they will discuss a wide range of issues between the two neighbouring countries.
“First meeting of head of government of two neighboring countries is always significant,” in replying to a question, spokesperson of Indian external affairs ministry Syed Akberuddin said in a press conference on Tuesday.
He said Bangladesh and India are very aware of each other needs. Indian and Bangladesh are sympathies of each other concern. Any meeting of two country's leaders is bound enhance understanding exiting co operation.
Modi will start his five-day visit to the United States from September 26 to 30, Akberuddin said.
He will be accompanied by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
