A “brutal husband" has cut off the wrist of his wife who is a school teacher in Savar Municipality's North Chapain area on Tuesday morning.
Hira Mia, completely severed the wrist of the right hand of his wife, Sabina Akhter, who is a teacher at a local Brac School.
Officer-in-Charge, Mostafa Kamal of Savar Model police said: “Hira Mia, cut off Sabina's wrists during an altercation over getting second marriage.”
“The police admitted Sabina to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital and recovered the severed wrist from the spot. But, Hira went into hiding immediately after the incident,” he added.
The victim, Sabina, said: “I got married to a garment worker, Hira one-and-a-half-year ago. But, he secretly married again for the second time, few months after our marriage, this has been exposed recently.”
“We often lock into altercations over that issue. We engaged in an altercation again on Tuesday morning. At one stage, he severed my wrist with a chopper and fled the scene.”
