The government has imposed a ban on catching, transporting and hoarding of Hilsa fish from October 5 to 15 across the country to boost its production through the protection of the mother fish.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sayedul Haque told the reporters after an inter-ministerial meeting at the secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the decision was taken in a bid to to boost Hilsa production through the protection of the mother fish.
"Legal action will be taken against the violators of the order," said the minister.
