Four business establishments – a restaurant, two bus ticket counters and a fruit shop – were burnt to ashes in the early hours of yesterday, rendering a loss of around Tk4 lakh in Chittagong city’s Chandgaon area.
However, no causality was reported in this incident.
Fire brigade sources said the fire had started from an electric short circuit on the roadside establishments under Bahadarhat Flyover of New Chandgaon area at around 2:30.
They added that three units of fire fighters from Agrabad, Kalurghat and Chandanpura rushed there and were able to douse the flames after three hours of frantic efforts.
