Update : 22 Sep 2014, 07:04 PM

The Education Ministry is yet to find how Pakistani flags were distributed at a state programme held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Saturday.

Although the ministry has not formed any high-powered committee, a probe body formed by Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) is working on matter, said Deputy Chief Information Officer Subodh Chandra Dhali.

At the concluding function of a sports competition for the schools and Madrasas, addressed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a good number of miniature Pakistani flags were found inside the packets of Bangladeshi flags when the teachers were handing them over to the students, who were supposed to wave them during the function.

DSHE Director General Fahima Khatun told the Dhaka Tribune that a three-member committee led by Director Ataur Rahman was investigating the incident given three working days.

One of the schools that were given the Pakistani flags with bundles of Bangladesh flags was Motijheel Ideal School and College. The persons in-charge stopped distributing the flags immediately.

The school management informed local lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon, also civil aviation minister, who sent a letter to the education minister demanding punishment to those responsible for the anti-state approach.
