An explosion has taken place at Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council office in Rangamati sadar upazila.
Four vehicles of the office were damaged in the explosion around 3:30am on Monday.
Later, the security guards of the office informed police regarding the explosion.
Rangamati Senior Assistant Police Super Abul Kalam Azad said: “We are not sure what kind of bomb was used in the explosion. It could even be a grenade.”
He said an explosion team has been called from the army to investigate about the bomb.
In a press conference, Rangamati Police Super Amena Begum said police have detained one Shusil Chakma, 23, from a hotel in the district.
She said: “Shusil has accepted that someone had given Tk50,000 to him for conducting the explosion act.”
However, she did not disclose the details regarding the incident for the sake of investigation.
