A minor girl has been killed as robbers shot her during robbery at Charamdwip under Boalkhali upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shamima Aktar, 5.
Tariqul Islam, assistant superintendent of police in Patia circle, told the Dhaka Tribune that a group of bandits numbering seven to eight swooped on the house of Haji Ismail around 2:30am and kept the family members captive at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, the robbers fired gunshots at Shamima and her grandmother Fatema Begum, 55.
"The robbers might have shot them being obstructed by the family members in committing robbery," said the ASP.
Injured Shamima and her grandmother were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared Shamima dead.
