Some 20 people, including five policemen, have been injured in a clash between villagers and law enforcers at Ashulia in Savar.
The injured police officials are Savar Assistant Police Superintendent Rasel Sheikh, Duty Officer of Dhaka (South) Detective Branch of Police (DB) Shahin Shah Parvez, Sub-Inspectors Nazrul Islam Shahin, Touhidur Rahman and Ashraful Rahman.
Witnesses said a team of DB police raided the office of one Jahangir Alam in Adarsha village on Friday afternoon.
Later, the villagers locked into a clash with police when the law enforcers tried to arrest Anisur Rahman Ratan, Nazrul Islam Nuru, and Jahangir Alam.
Police recovered six rounds of bullets, six magazines and three foreign-made pistols during the raid.
Meanwhile, police also arrested Nazrul, Jahangir, Anisur, Jasim Master and Abul Hossain.
Savar model police station Assistant Police Superintendent Shafikul Islam said: “Acting on a tip off, police carried out a raid in Adarsha village and arrested five people with foreign-made pistols.
