The government wants to take Bangladesh-India relationship to a new height by resolving the pending bilateral issues, says Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
He said: “All the pending bilateral issues between the two countries should be resolved in order to boost the ties. We want to settle the unsolved issues and in order to do so, both sides should work.”
The minister came up with the observation while talking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday, before leaving for New Delhi in his first bilateral visit.
He said: "Bangladesh will also seek reassurance from India during the third Bangladesh-India Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting that its territory will not be used against Bangladesh."
The minister left Dhaka for New Delhi to pay a four-day visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

The JCC meeting will be held on September 20 where various issues of bilateral importance are expected to be discussed.
The foreign minister would also pay courtesy call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and meet other Indian dignitaries during the visit, the release added.
