Update : 17 Sep 2014, 08:17 PM

Jessore District Road Transport Association has threatened to enforce an indefinite strike in 18 routes of the south-western region of the country from September 21.

They gave the warning at a press conference yesterday to push home their five-point demand including the banning of illegal Nasiman, Kariman, Mahindra, easy bike and other locally-made vehicles. They also demanded the restoration of Jessore-Khulna and Jessore-Narail road and to stop passenger harassment at Daulatdia.

President of the association Ali Akbar said the illegal plying of locally-made vehicles defying High Court ban had posed great risk on highways.
