A painting exhibition titled “Essence of Nature” by N S Chowdhury Dancy, has begun at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi, (AFD) and will be open until September 29. A total of 36 artworks are on display at the exhibiton.
A graphic designer, Dancy prefers mixed media for her artworks. She believes her technique of mural-making is quite innovative. She uses acrylic, paper, and other objects that are prerequisites for mural-making. The artist has chosen “flowers” as the only theme of her 3-dimensional murals as it is the source of beauty and colour. Dancy has used bright colours in her paintings.
In recent years, she has started working with metals. Her works represent the traditional jewellery of Bangladesh.
N S Chowdhury Dancy has obtained a BFA in Painting an MFA in Graphic Design from University of Development Alternative. In 2003, her solo art exhibition was held at the Braddy Centre in 2009 and at the Harrow Arts Centre, both in London.
