‘Brihonnala’ is both realistic and entertaining: Ferdous

Ferdous and Sohana Saba are set to pair-up for Murad Parvez’s upcoming film, “Brihonnala.” The premier of the movie is scheduled on Friday.

“Brihonnala” is the second feature film of the Ferdous and Sohana Saba duo, they have worked toghter in “Ayna” before this project. This film is also the second project of Murad Parvez, a national award winning director.

Brihonnola, a project under the National Filmmaking Grant, is set in the rural Bangladesh of the 90s, where a city born and bred doctor, Abir, (Ferdous) comes to ply his trade. Abir strives to help the villagers. In time, the genorousity and kindness of the villagers also touches Abir. The villagers embroil in a fewd regarding a banyan tree. While trying to solve the fewd, Abir finds himself in the thick of things. Meanwhile, Abir develops an affair with Durga, (Sohana Saba) a married hindu woman smitten by Abir.

About his role of a physician, Ferdous said: “These days, the audience is not interested in watching bizarre, unrealistic films. They enthuse for films that have realistic stories which combine entertaining elements. I believe that these two factors are present in the film flawlessly.”

“Generally, a realistic film set in the rural life does not do well, but I believe that the elements present in this film will ensure that Brihonnola in a success,” he added while pointing out the 2008 Bollywood project, “Fasion” as an example that such films can succeed. Fashion portrayed a realistic storyline, and attained critical acclaim,  box office success as well as the National Award.

The cast of the film also includes Intekhab Dinar, Dilara Zaman and Azad Abul Kalam among others.

The soundtracks of the movie were released on August 23. The movie has four songs in total, all of which have been composed by Emon Saha.
