Police have recovered three bodies, including a body of newborn baby, from different areas of Gazipur.
The deceased are auto-rickshaw driver Monir Hossain, 30, pilling trader Shamsuddin Mia, 50, son of Abdul Halim of Kaliakoir upazila, and the identity of the newborn baby could not be known immediately.
Joydebpur police station Sub-Inspector Monjurul Hoque said: “A group of five hijackers rented Monir's auto-rickshaw around 11pm on Monday. They stabbed him on the neck and tried to flee the scene.”
“He died after being taken to Gazipur sadar hospital. The locals held two of the hijackers --Rubel, 29, and Rafiqul Islam, 22, --and handed them over to the police” he said.
Police recovered the body of a newborn baby from the veranda of a mosque at Salna area in the early hours of Tuesday, he said.
Kaliakoir police station SI Rafiqul Islam said: “Police recovered Shamsuddin's body around 8am from the district.”
