57 doctors join Rangamati health services

A total of 57 new doctors have joined their services at ten upazilas of the district recently. Each upazila will now get at least five doctors at all times to provide medical services to the people, government health authorities said.

People of the district feel relieved as each upazila of the district has been provided with a good number of physicians to ensure their proper medicare.

The strength of physicians in the district now stands at 106. So long, only 49 physicians were working in health complexes at ten upazilas of the district against 175 sanctioned posts of doctors.

With the joining of 57 new doctors by August 27 this year, the vacant position of 106 physicians in the district has been met, the civil surgeon (CS) of the district, Dr Mustafizur Rahman told BSS on Tuesday.

The district health department is vested under the control of Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC).

The appointment of 57 doctors at a time would ensure proper medicare services for the people of the district to a large extent, hopes the health authorities.
