Five people have been killed and another has been injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kanchoner Jindabagh Park area under Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Rupganj police station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Islam said: “A truck collided head-on with a auto-rickshaw at Kanchoner Jindabagh Park area around 9am on Tuesday, killing four people on the spot and injuring two others.”
“A child succumbed to injuries after being rushed to Rupganj Health Clinic,” he said.
The OC said angry locals vandalised the truck and blocked Modonpur-Bhulta-Joydebpur road for 15 minutes soon after the incident. The situation is under control now.
However, the truck driver managed to flee from the scene.
