The Income Tax Fair 2014 has begun to encourage people pay income tax regularly.
Industries minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the fair at the Officers Club premises in Dhaka at 10am on Tuesday.
The National Revenue Board (NBR) is organising the Fair from September 16 to 22 simultaneously at all divisional and district headquarters.
The fair at the divisional headquarters will be for seven days and at the district headquarters for four days.
Like the previous years, the major objectives of this year's fair will be making people aware about the importance and benefit of paying tax regularly.
During the fair, the NBR will offer people various services including online facility for submitting income tax return and registering for e-TIN certificate.
Separate booths for women, disable people and senior citizens have been placed in the fair. Sonali Bank and Janata Bank also set up booths at the venue so people can pay their income tax.
The fair will remain open for visitors from 10am to 6pm.
The NBR has been organising the national tax fair since 2008 to develop a tax culture by encouraging people pay income tax regularly.
For the first time, the NBR will give e-token to people who would visit the fair for income tax related services. The e-token would help visitors get their desired services without standing in queue for a long time.
