An old woman and her granddaughter have been killed as the wall of the mud-house collapsed at Piyarapur Madarpara village under Sakhahar Union of Govindaganj in Gaibandha on Monday.
The deceased are Manwara Begum, 50, wife of Mahir Uddin, and their granddaughter Rubi Akhter, 3, daughter of Mousami Akhtar.
Quoting the family, Sakhahar Union Chairman Abdul Mannan Mondal said due to the rain from the past few days, the mud wall of their kitchen got softened.
Manwara Begum was cooking lunch with her granddaughter Ruby Akhtar on Monday. Suddenly the wall fell on them, leaving the grandmother and granddaughter dead on the spot, he said.
Officer-in-Charge ABM Zahidul Islam of Govindaganj police confirmed about the incident and said a case of unnatural death was filed.
