Rawnak Hasan, who started his career as a screenwriter before moving on to become an actor, is back to writing screenplays again. It has been learnt that the actor has put pen to paper for a family-themed dramatic television series being directed by Ashiqur Rahman.
The drama, “Akash Churi,” which also stars Rawnak in a lead role, is being shot currently. So how was it like to be back to the beginning after four years? “It felt good. I was busy with acting and did not get much time to write. But the director of this play, and one of my best buddies, Ashiqur Rahman inspired me to start writing again,” Rawnak said.
The story of the drama, Rawnak says, revolves around members of an upper-middle-class family and explores their life in many dimensions. Rawnak plays a disturbed son, Raihan, who is struggling with a post-traumatic stress disorder.
The play addresses social problems and attempts to offer solutions. In this regard, Rawnak said: “See, being a writer also means for me to try to offer solutions. It is up to the audience to accept it or not.”
Asked if the dual role of an actor and a writer was difficult, he said, “It’s not. I understand that acting and directing simultaneously can be quite taxing, but the same cannot be said about writing and acting. It gets easier to act on a script that you’ve written yourself.”
Mir Sabbir and Shoshi will also play important roles in the drama which will be aired on ATN Bangla.
