SC dismisses Khaleda’s appeals
The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against a High Court order in her two corruption cases.
The five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Mozammel Hossain passed the order on Sunday morning.
AG: No bar to Khaleda's graft trial
Attorney General Mahbub-e-Alam has said there is no bar for the trial of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as the Appellate Division has dismissed her appeals in two corruption cases.
He made the statement while talking to the reporters at his office in the Supreme Court after the court gave its order regarding Khaleda's plea on Sunday morning.
Lawyer: Khaleda may file review petition
Khaleda Zia's lawyer Zainul Abedin has said they may submit review petition on the Supreme Court order that dismissed the BNP chairperson's appeals in two graft cases.
The counsel of Khaleda Zia made the statement while talking to reporters at the Supreme Court premises on Sunday morning.
One killed in capital ‘gunfight’
A person has been killed in a “gunfight” with the members of Detective Branch (DB) of police at Mugdapara area in the capital.
Deputy Commissioner of DB (West) Sheikh Nazmul Alam said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police raided Green Model Town area to catch some criminals on Sunday morning.”

A cotton factory has caught fire at Mashkanda area in Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Industrial zone in Mymensingh.
The fire broke out at the factory around 11:15am on Sunday.
