MTV Programme Platform in Bangladesh held its first major awards ceremony yesterday, giving recognition to musicians who won awards at the MTV Chart Attack.
Waqeel won the most prestigious MTV Chart Attack Platinum Disc Award, with a prize money of TK150,000, for the music video integrating his “Amrito Megher Bari” song that topped MTV Bangladesh’s chart for 12 consecutive weeks.
MTV Chart Attack features the most followed songs and videos based on public voting. Bands Oshruto and Shunno, and soloist Miftah, received Silver Disc Awards in the ceremony. The awards were handed over by Abu Sayeed Zahir, director of Creinse Limited.
The winners expressed their gratitude to the Creinse Team, for bringing MTV in Bangladesh and providing a global platform to take their music careers to the next level.
After receiving the award, Waqeel told Dhaka Tribune: “I’m happy that a Lalon song won the hearts of the new-generation listeners. I’m grateful to MTV and Creinse for inspiring me with such a big honour. My responsibility is even bigger now as a musician.”
MTV Chart Attack airs on Maasranga Television every Sunday at 11:30pm. MTV started its journey in Bangladesh in November 2013 and continues to air programmes on Maasranga’s frequency for two hours every week.
